On Work for Regis College "When my department decided to brand ourselves, we chose Phoenix. Even though we searched for someone to compare them to, Amy and Phoenix were first on my mind. To address our institutional evolution to dual gender admissions status, our challenge to Phoenix was to design a logo branding program that included both a lion and a lioness, and provide a solution that would be gender neutral at the request of Regis College management. Amy guided our internal meetings and through client service channels enabled Phoenix to come back to us time and time again with branding solutions that were amazing. All client feedback was decided by consensus through our Regis Branding Committee, to which Amy and Phoenix were always able to respond with a thoughtful, rational and reasonable solution to guide our process and keep our brand development moving in the best interests of Regis. In the end Phoenix put together every aspect of what we were looking for to brand ourselves, and I am truly thankful to Amy and Phoenix for taking so much of the worry off of my hands. We had two different names and multiple marks, and needed a consistent brand that our institute, student athletes and fans could all rally around. With the help of Phoenix Design Works, we looked at our history and current marks, and determined that moving forward we would use one prominent mark from our past, and would develop two new ones that would reflect our new brand and help us reenergize our look. Using this as guidance, the Phoenix Design Works team provided us multiple options and worked us through multiple iterations to insure that our final product met our requirements. The result was exceptional, and our three new marks are now seen across campus. Our students, student athletes, staff and faculty alumni and fans have all embraced the marks and the marks have helped us enhance current and generate new revenue opportunities. On Work for the Whittier College Poets I am honored to write this letter for Phoenix Design Works. I had the privilege six years ago to be introduced to Amy and Jamie Skiles while working at my previous college, CCNY, in New York City. They were extremely helpful in creating a package of logos for our program. Upon my arrival at Whittier College, we worked closely once again in compiling an in depth design package that included sport logos for all teams, basketball court logo and a new mascot suit. In my opinion, their professionalism and communication skills are the areas that set them apart from other companies. They worked with us every step of the way in creating marks that fit what we were looking for and with what worked best for our institution. I deal with numbers vendor each and every year and I can unequivocally say that Phoenix Design Works is without question one of the finest companies I have ever had the opportunity to work with. With this being said, it is without reservation that I recommend Phoenix Design Works as possessing the qualities and competencies necessary to create a package that your institution will be happy with for year to come. Robert J. Coleman, Director of Athletics, Whittier College
On Work for Wichita State University "It is important for our building athletic program to have an opportunity to promote itself as 'Wichita State Shockers' in a logo, not exclusively 'WSU', since we recruit, compete and are viewed on a national level. This new logo allows us to communicate more accurately who we are, and it gives us a chance to promote our unique nickname in Shockers. It allows us to better promote our city, university and athletic program to individuals throughout the country. This effort is an important step in the image building process of our athletic program. I believe several years from now, a lot more people will know better who we are as an athletic program by virtue having a branding identity of 'Wichita State Shockers. The new mark is very sharp and was popular with focus groups. It should be successful for merchandising since its scope is broader with 'Wichita State Shockers' and it was designed to manufacture well. The new logo and WU will make a great team." Jim Schaus, Director of Athletics, Wichita State University
On Work for Wilkes University "We believe that we have captured an identity that represents the rich tradition of Wilkes athletics, and offers the versatility to market our programs while maintaining the integrity of the University." Addy Malatesta, Director of Athletics, Wilkes University
On Work for the College of William & Mary "When we started working with Phoenix Design Works, it was in the context of a mandate to develop a new logo to replace one that had been banned by the NCAA. Our broad-based committee of students, faculty, Alumni, administrators and coaches had worked for several months to create the guidelines it would use in selecting a new logo and to sift through hundreds that had been submitted for consideration. We believed we were at a point where we had three viable concepts with which to work and we were looking for a design firm to take each of those and provide us with options for our consideration. Your job was to take our concepts, give us working options, and do so on a fairly tight deadline. Once we started working with you we quickly came to understand how many possibilities there were yet to be considered. You provided us well over 500 options, met every deadline, used your experience to keep us on track without ever attempting to impose your judgement on the final selections and along the way helped us see unique opportunities we had with the design we selected, opportunities that sadly might have been overlooked had it not been for your guidance. What impressed me was the speed with which you worked, your consistent good nature and responsiveness and the extent to which you were willing to go to give us what we needed-not to mention to the fact that the artwork itself is of extremely high quality. Thanks to you we met our deadline, are enthusiastic about the result you have helped us create, and are most grateful for a working relationship where not only was every promise kept, you frequently went beyond. Thanks again for a great job for us." W. Samuel Sadler, Vice President for Student Affairs, Chair, Logo Committee, William & Mary College
